Geek word for the day: Lifestreaming...
I've obviously been out of touch with my geeky side lately because I only just heard the term 'lifestream' for the first time yesterday but it seems to be the hot new thing. Friendfeed is an example of that. I also tried Profilactic which boasts over 180 sites (though I've noticed a couple of those are dead) they connect. I didn't see any significant differences in functionality so it seems that Profilactic's 180 wins over FriendFeed's 35. Except that Profilactic doesn't have Netflix and I heart me some Netflix so that makes me a little sad. I was totally excited about the idea of snooping on everyone's queues. ;c) Also, both sites link StumbleUpon but only FriendFeed actually puts your stumbles in your feed. Since SU is another of my favorite sites, it is another disappointment.

My biggest beef with both and with the other lifestream sites I've been looking at is that I want a widget and most seem to be javascript which means it can't be used on the majority of sites out there since any smart site will block js to stop malicious use. I used Widgetbox to create the ones you see here but, as you may have noticed, it can be pretty slow to load and it is a bit more clutter-y looking since it's just a basic feed reader and doesn't include the icons or other things which help distinguish each separate post.
